Angela Anderson Takes on Leadership Roles at
National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives and
Asian Health Care Leaders Association
CHICAGO (March 6, 2008) – Angela D. Anderson has been named the Executive Director of the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives (NFLHE) and a leadership consultant to help direct the development of the Asian Health Care Leaders Association (AHCLA). Both health groups are based in Chicago.
Based in Chicago, NFLHE's mission is to expand Latino healthcare leadership on a national level, foster discussions with respect to health policy and provide cultural insights and voice to the research agendas affecting the U.S. Latino community. AHCLA is a membership and leadership organization devoted to increasing the representation and professional development of Asian-Americans in health care executive management, policy, and administration.
"We welcome Ms. Anderson as our executive director," said NFLHE President Hank Hernandez, who is the CEO of Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX. "We look forward to working with Angela to build NFLHE, increase our membership and achieve our vision of a more inclusive executive suite that represents our communities.”
Anderson is a founder of NFLHE and served as its liaison to the Institute for Diversity in Healthcare Management, where she was director of operations, before becoming interim executive director in September 2007.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to work with NFLHE and executive healthcare leaders throughout the country to ensure diverse healthcare leadership and develop healthcare opportunities for Latino youth," Anderson said.
Anderson's professional experiences include the Health Research & Educational Trust in Chicago, the George E. Pullman Foundation, Community Services and Employment Training Inc. and the Centro de Investigation y Service Popular in Bolivia.
Anderson was a steering committee member of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Health Week in 2005 and 2006. Anderson received a master's of public policy and a Certificate in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Chicago's Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and is a alumni of the National Hispana Leadership Institute.
Anderson is the president of the board of expresiones-artísticas and a member of Latina Leadership Council of the Chicago Foundation for Women. She serves on the board of St. Bernard Hospital and Health Center.

AHCLA offers programs in mentoring, networking, life-long learning, and career development. The mission of the AHCLA is to increase the representation and professional development of Asian-Americans in health care executive management, policy, and leadership roles.
